Gympie Dog Obedience Club Inc.

The Gympie Dog Obedience Club has been helping the people of Gympie & surrounding districts to train their dogs for many years. It is a not-for-profit organisation run by volunteers who share their time & expertise with dog owners wishing to train their dogs to be first & foremost good canine citizens. Members are also encouraged to train their dogs to competition standard and to compete for various titles, should they wish to do so.

The Club holds various competitions & trials throughout the year in the sports of obedience, agility and tracking and both competitors & spectators are most welcome to attend.

At present the club has around 200 financial members. Approximately 60 handlers and their dogs train each week. All members are welcome to attend our monthly meetings, held on the 3rd Monday of each month and encouraged to get involved in the running of the club. Remember that all members of the Committee & the Instructors work in a voluntary capacity and welcome your help & ideas.

The club also offers the following:

  • Obedience Demonstration Team - attending fetes, festivals etc.
  • Therapy Dog Team - visiting nursing homes & hospitals
  • School Education Team - in conjunction with AVA PetPep teaching children about responsible pet ownership & the Prevent-a-Bite program

The Club works with the Gympie Regional Council to encourage dog owners to act responsibly and comply with the local Council by-laws.
